Project Type: Public Health Awareness / Educational Video

Project Overview

“Colorectal Cancer Screening Saves Lives” is a public-health awareness video designed to encourage people to take colorectal cancer screening seriously and understand its value as a preventive health step. The project supports CDC messaging that adults age 45 or older should talk with their doctor about screening, even if they do not have symptoms or a family history, and reinforces that screening can help detect issues early and even prevent cancer.

My Role & Responsibilities

For this project, I approached the work through the lens of a UX/UI Designer, Graphic Designer, Visual Designer, and Video Editor. My role focused on organizing the content in a visually clear and engaging way, shaping the design direction, refining layouts and supporting graphics, and editing the final piece so the message felt polished, approachable, and easy for viewers to absorb.

Strategic Design Approach

My strategic goal was to make the message around screening feel clear, relevant, and motivating rather than overly clinical or difficult to engage with. Because the subject involves preventive care and public awareness, I focused on using visual hierarchy, pacing, typography, supporting graphics, and structured messaging to guide the viewer through the information in a way that felt simple, direct, and actionable. The intention was to support both understanding and behavioral encouragement through thoughtful visual communication.

Tools & Execution

  • Adobe Premiere Pro for editing, sequencing, pacing, and final assembly
  • Adobe After Effects for motion support, transitions, and animated visual elements
  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for graphic assets, layouts, and design refinement
  • Structured visual communication to support screening-awareness messaging and make the content easier to follow

Outcome

The final video supported a broader public-health effort to increase awareness around colorectal cancer screening and encourage people to take preventive action. By presenting the information in a visually engaging and approachable format, the project helped reinforce that screening should begin at age 45, that it matters even when symptoms are not present, and that there are multiple screening options available depending on individual needs.

What This Project Demonstrates

This project demonstrates my ability to turn health education content into a more accessible and visually effective communication experience. It reflects how I use design thinking, visual structure, and editing strategy to simplify important information, support message clarity, and create final deliverables that are both engaging and aligned with broader awareness and education goals.
