Project Overview

Self-care is Healthcare: A Winning Diet” is a CDC public-health video designed to raise awareness around cardiovascular disease and encourage healthier daily habits. The core message emphasizes that healthy eating, exercise, and stress reduction are important steps people can take to reduce their risk for heart disease and stroke, while reinforcing the broader idea that self-care is a meaningful part of healthcare.

My Role & Responsibilities

In this project, I approached the work through the lens of a UX/UI Designer, Graphic Designer, Visual Designer, and Video Editor. My role focused on shaping the visual presentation of the message, helping organize information in a way that was easy to follow, supporting the overall flow of the content, and contributing to a polished final experience through thoughtful editing, layout, and design refinement.

Strategic Design Approach

My strategic focus was on making the content feel accessible, visually clear, and emotionally relevant to the intended audience. Because the subject matter centers on heart health and prevention, the design approach needed to support trust, clarity, and retention. I considered how pacing, sequencing, typography, imagery, transitions, and visual hierarchy could work together to simplify health information and make the message more engaging without losing its seriousness or credibility.

Tools & Execution

  • Adobe Premiere Pro for sequencing, editing, pacing, and final assembly
  • After Effects for motion graphics, transitions, and supporting animated elements
  • Photoshop and Illustrator for visual assets, typography support, and graphic refinement
  • Audio and export optimization to support a clean, professional final delivery

Outcome

The final video supports a larger public-health effort to encourage people to make healthier lifestyle choices that may reduce cardiovascular risk. The piece was built to communicate a serious topic in a more approachable and visually engaging way, helping transform important health information into content that is easier to understand, more memorable, and more likely to connect with viewers.

What This Project Demonstrates

This project demonstrates my ability to apply visual design, communication strategy, and editing principles to mission-driven content. It reflects how I think beyond simple video production and instead treat the work as a complete communication experience—one that must guide attention, support understanding, and deliver a message in a way that feels clear, intentional, and visually cohesive.
